Wide open

As I was driving today I remembered something from way back when Riley was born. We were settling into life back at home, when Jamaal went into the back room. He immediately notice how incredibly cold it was in there. The reason? I had left the sliding glass door wide open.

It had been open for 2 nights. I was busy packing for the hospital, and opened the door to let the girls outside before we went to my parents house to drop them off. I left it open, to save time I guess. I meant to shut it, but got distracted. Jamaal didn't know what I had done, and since the girls came back in, he had no reason to check the door.

How lucky we were to come home to a house with our belongings still inside. Jamaal was not too happy with me. He had a lot of "what ifs" but I just smiled and said they didn't happen. I'm pretty glad they didn't, because as it is I'll never hear the end of it.

Baby's first photo

I finally got around to scanning the picture in from the ultrasound. I also realized I forgot to mention that during the ultrasound the little one was wiggling a little. He was squirming side to side a little bit while the tech was trying to measure. He wasn't going places, but just moving a little. It was funny. I couldn't believe how human he looks already. You can't really tell in the picture but during the ultrasound we could see the eyes, nose and mouth. I was blown away. (I just read the previous post, and I already said some of this. Just another example of my pregnancy brain at work.)

I really want applesauce right now. I think I have some organic apples in the fridge...I could boil them and blend them and make my own. Mmmmm

Back to the appointment:
Jamaal and I were in Vegas the week following conception. I have felt slightly guilty about that. My midwife made me feel a ton better by saying that the little one wasn't connected to my blood supply at that time so he won't be affected by my alcohol consumption. I really didn't drink all that much while I was there...definitely could have been worse. But now I feel less guilty about it.

Last night I pulled out my knitting needles and my "Learn to Knit" book and sat on the couch trying to learn how to knit. It was awful. The "Learn to Knit" author needs to read "Learn to Teach" because it really was terrible. I felt like an idiot, because the book says it's "easy" but it definitely was not easy to follow that stupid book.

So I decided to google knitting online. And found this website:

OMG. It is awesome. Want to learn to knit? You CAN. Know how to knit already? Want to learn different techniques? You CAN. The videos are awesome. I figured out how to knit after watching a couple times. I did it with the lady and voila! It was late when I finally found the website, so I just figured out I could knit, and stopped. But I'll start again later today, with the videos in front of me. I need to tidy up the house a little before I go back to knitting though, or the husband might not be too happy with me.

Pregnancy Brain

Sunday, May 2nd

So, it begins. I'm continuing to do crazy things.

For example, yesterday, I decided I wanted Thai food for dinner. It was later than I meant to be getting home, and so dinner would take a while to make. Jamaal doesn't like Thai food, so I offered to pick him up Jack in the Box instead. He wanted a Jumbo Jack.

I looked at the menu, and told the drive-thru lady that I wanted a #4. I got home, enjoyed my phad Thai, and when Jamaal opened his sandwich, he said "Aubri, what is this?"

I sat for a second, thought really hard, and realized that a #4 was a Sourdough Jack. I hesitated for a second, and told him it was a "Sourdough Jack." I felt really bad. But at the time I thought I was doing the right thing...

Today I got lost going to West Seattle for a brunch held by a lady at work. I ended up in downtown Seattle instead.

I've been getting slightly dizzy and have had some more nausea. It is beginning to make me feel like running to the bathroom now. I'm also not really eating a ton. I feel really hungry, but it doesn't take long for me to feel full, or bored of what I'm eating.

Water is like the one thing that makes me feel really good. It makes my nausea pass a little faster...

Tomorrow is the first day of week 5. I think I'm going to take a picture most every week of this pregnancy, then make a slide show at the end. :D There are a couple really creative ones on YouTube that make me smile. One has a lady standing in the babies nursery, and they took a picture every day so you can see the nursery changing around her. It's really neat.
